The panelled entrance to the tower was put in place by William Prigge and Thomas Rudge, churchwardens, in 1638
The Minstrels’ Gallery above was erected in 1771. This was where musicians led singing before the installation of the organ.
In the bell tower above are six bells, two of them medieval. The tenor weighs 20cwt and is inscribed “The gift of John Astry, Esq., 1702”.
The louvres in the bell tower openings were replaced in 2007 to keep out the birds, and new lighting was installed in the bell chamber in 2009.
Today the band rings for Sunday services and weddings. Wednesday is practice night.
